Vio-lence Vio-lence Stewart-Warner Category="American heavy metal musical groups"Category="Thrash metal musical groups"Vio-lence was a Thrash metal band formed in 1985. Throughout the early line changes, Vio-lence were one of the mainstays of the SF Bay Area thrash fraternity of the mid to late eighties, with a consistent style in the Exodus and Forbidden mold. The band broke up shortly after the release of their fourth album (1993's Nothing To Gain), with Flynn emerging in the very successful Machine Head a year later.

They have re-released their debut "Eternal Nightmare" as a 2 disc set including rare tracks and a live concert.

Initially planning only a few shows as part of the tribute to Testament's Chuck Billy during the Thrash Of The Titans benefit, but things went better than expected and the band decided to reunite, with the classic lineup save guitarist Troy Fua replacing Flynn. Ironically, it was Flynn who replaced Fua in an earlier incarnation of the band. In April 2003 the other guitarist, Phil Demmel, joined Machine Head as a fulltime member after previously serving as a temporary guitarist which ended the Vio-lence comeback trail. Though he has officially left the band, he has stated he will play on a new album if and when the band decides to ever record again, but its not hopeful. They are not officially disbanded but have stated that there are no touring plans in the future.

There is a DVD in the works.
