Vercelli is a commune of about 46,000 inhabitants, in the Province of Vercelli, Italy. Vercelli is placed in the Pianura Padana, between Milan and Turin. Vercelli is an important centre for the cultivation of Rice, and is surrounded by rice fields, which are flooded in summer. In the province there are many other interesting places, especially in Valsesia.

Vercelli has several medieval monuments. St. Andrew Basilica is a remarkable example of gotic and romanesque architecture. St Eusebius Cathedral houses several art works. The Cathedral Library houses the famous Vercelli Book, an Old English manuscript.

Vercelli houses the University of Literature and a detached seat of the Politecnico di Torino.

The typical plate is rice with beans, called panissa. The typical wine is Gattinara, a comune of the province of Vercelli.
