<b>Variation</b> means an instance of change or the rate or magnitude of change. In various fields it may refer to: <ul> <li>Astronomical variation/Variation (astronomy) - any <a href="Perturbation">Perturbation</a> of the mean motion or orbit of a planet or satellite; especially a perturbation of the earth's moon. <li><a href="Biodiversity">Biodiversity</a> <li>Direct variation <li><a href="Mutation">Genetic variation</a>/<a href="Mutation">Variation (genetics)</a> - a mutation, an organism that has characteristics resulting from <a href="Chromosome">chromosomal</a> alteration <li>Indirect variation. <li><a href="Magnetic declination">Magnetic variation</a> - the difference, east or west, between <a href="North Pole">magnetic north</a> and <a href="True north">True north</a>, measured as an <a href="Angle">Angle</a>. It is the quantifiable amount of change or difference from expected results, in the form of the deviation from a central value. When present in a <a href="Normal distribution">Normal distribution</a> it is measured using <a href="Standard deviation">Standard deviation</a> as the sum of the squared deviations from the mean.
