UGK UGK École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers Category="Hip hop groups"UGK (short for "Underground Kingz") is a Southern hip hop act from Port Arthur, Texas. The group was formed in 1987 by members Pimp C and Bun B, and is signed to Jive Records . With their longevity and tight sound, UGK has become one the most respected underground groups from the south. UGK is often compared to Eightball & MJG.

A popular and respected Southern hip hop act, UGK's biggest single was "Pimpin' Ain't No Illusion", a #6 hit on the Billboard Rap Charts. The group made a high-profile guest appearance on Jay-Z's 2000 hit single "Big Pimpin'", and also appeared on Three Six Mafia's hit "Sippin' On Some Sizzurp" the same year.

Pimp C was incarcerated on January 28 2003 on an aggravated Gun assault charge, after which point Jive put out a Greatest hits LP and a chopped-and-screwed Remix album. Although Pimp C is currently in prison, he released his solo debut, The Sweet James Jones Stories on Rap-A-Lot Records, March 1, 2005.

Bun B is currently working on his solo album Trill which is set to release October 2005. He appears on Beanie Sigel's The B. Coming and on the Rap Phenomenon 2 Mixtape, by DJ Green Lantern.
