Origin of the Name

It is said that this name was attached is since Hokora「祠」 (little shrine)which deified SUGAWARA no Michizane 「菅原道真」existed in on the south of a slope a long time ago, or Calyx field「葭原」 could be seen from this slope. Therefore, there is also an opinion of having called it the Yoshimi slope (「葭見坂・吉見坂」, the slope from which Yoshi can be seen).
