rule stand for:Run Up to date Linux Everywhere
what they do
RULE is a project that aim to use up to date linux software on old pc (5 years old or more) by recompiling and changing some code to recent programs in order to make them use less resource so they can run convenientey on theses old pc the reasons
the principal advantages of using old pc with up to date software is that: - up to date software have more up to date standard (html4,java...) support and is more secure to use because of patched security holes
- use old pc that polute less than the new ones (consume less energy, less noise)
- recycle them
- And i think the main avantage is that pc aren't cheap especialy for third world, eastern european contries ,or for big volumes(for example a school needs a lot of pc...)
