<catset>Category="Hollywood movie studios"</catset><b>Revolution Studios</b> was founded in <a href="2000">2000</a> by <a href="Joe Roth">Joe Roth</a>, a former chairman of <a href="Walt Disney Studios">Walt Disney Studios</a> and <a href="20th Century Fox">Twentieth Century Fox</a>.  Revolution is a <a href="Partnership">strategic partner</a> of <a href="Sony Pictures Entertainment">Sony Pictures</a>, which <a href="Distribution (business)">distributes</a> and <a href="Marketing">markets</a> Revolution's films.<p>Revolution Studios has strategic partnerships with Sony Pictures, Fox Entertainment Group, and Starz Encore Group. Sony Pictures takes care of the releasing of Revolution's output into movie theaters domestically and internationally, and facilitates distribution (via Columbia TriStar Entertainment/Sony Pictures) for Revolution content to DVD/home video. Starz Encore has the rights to Revolution's library for their pay-television channels (Starz and Encore) thru Sony Pictures Television International. Fox Entertainment Group retains the broadcast television rights (Revolution content will air on the FOX Broadcasting Company) and basic cable rights (FX Networks) via thru <a href="Sony Pictures Television">Sony Pictures Television</a>.<p>After so many years, the distribution rights of the films revert back to Revolution Studios, who can then decide how to manage their library of films.<p>Revolution is a <a href="Privately-held">Privately-held</a> <a href="Company (law)">company</a>, with Roth owning the controlling interest.
