Resurrectionists or body snatchers were grave robbers who dug up fresh corpses and sold them to be used in Anatomy lectures in medical schools.

The most famous literary depiction of the practice is the Short story, The Body Snatcher by Robert Louis Stevenson, and the film adaptation starring Boris Karloff.
