Picenum was the birthplace of such notables as <a href="Pompey">Pompey the Great</a>, his father <a href="Pompeius Strabo">Pompeius Strabo</a>, and <a href="Cicero">Cicero</a>. It was situated in what is now the region of <a href="Marche">Marche</a> in modern Italy.
