The <b>Melanchlaeni</b> (meaning "black-cloaks"), one of two ancient tribes. The best known are a tribe that lived north of <a href="Scythia">Scythia</a>. They have been identified with various <a href="Finland">Finn</a> tribes. <a href="Herodotus">Herodotus</a> writes of them. The other tribe is mentioned by <a href="Pliny the Elder">Pliny the Elder</a>.
