<i><b>Megalopolis</b></i> (<a href="Greek language">Greek</a>: large city, great city) can mean:<ul><li> The city of Megalópoli (&#924;&#949;&#947;&#945;&#955;&#959;&#960;&#959;&#955;&#951;), <a href="Megalopolis, Greece">Megalopolis, Greece</a>. <li> <a href="Megacity">Megacity</a> or "megapolis", is defined as an extensively large <a href="Metropolitan area">Metropolitan area</a>, or a long chain of continuous metropolitan areas. The term was first used in the <a href="United States">United States</a> by Jean Gottman in <a href="1957">1957</a>, to describe the huge urban area along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. from <a href="Boston, Massachusetts">Boston, Massachusetts</a>, through <a href="New York City">New York City</a>, to <a href="Washington, D.C.">Washington, D.C.</a> According to Gottman, it resulted from changes in work and social habits.
