It is in the east of the country, bordering <a href="Iran">Iran</a>. Its capital is <a href="Amarah">Al Amarah</a>.<p>Maysan suffered greatly during the <a href="Iran-Iraq War">Iran-Iraq War</a>, during which it was a major battlefield.
