Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do not use the Cross as a symbol of their religion, as many other Christian denominations do. Various reasons have been given. However, the primary reason was given in a first presidency message in 2005. Gordon B. Hinckley states "the cross is the symbol of the dying Christ, while our message is that of a living Christ."
