Kniaginia is the feminine form of the Slavic word Kniaz' \also spelt as kniaz or knyaz\ , a royal title of the rulers of Slavic states and of the Slavic nobility of the royal blood, later in history used also as the honorary title bestoved by the Emperors and the reigning Empresses of Russia on the persons of outstanding merit.
