Maybe you are looking for Little Kara-Kul, a lake in the Pamir Mountains.

Kara-Kul, is a Lake formed inside a Meteor crater in Tajikistan, to the south of the Trans-Alai range, and lies at an altitude of 4,020 meters it is surrounded by high mountains, and is reached from the north over the Kyzyl-art pass (4,270 meters). A peninsula projecting from the south shore and an Island off the north shore divide it into two basins, a smaller eastern one which is shallow, 13 to 19 meters, and a larger western one, which has depths of 221 to 230 meters. It has no drainage outlet.

The crater is 52 km in Diameter and the age is estimated to be less than 5 million years (Pliocene). The crater is exposed to surface.
