Category="Ethnic groups of Russia"The Kamchadals (Камчадалы in Russian) is a former name of the Itelmens, the native people of Kamchatka, used in the 18th century. Subsequently, the name applied to the descendants of the Itelmens, i.e. Koryaks and Chuvans, who has assimilated with the Russians. The descendants of the Russian settlers in 18th-19th century were also called Kamchadals. The Kamchadals speak Russian with a touch of Siberian and local dialects. The Kamchadals are engaged in Fishing, fur trading, Market gardening and Dairy farming.
