Humanoids Publishing

Humanoids Publishing (in French Humanoïdes Associés) is a Comics publisher specialising in Science fiction titles. It published the magazine Métal Hurlant and has a stable of authors that includes Enki Bilal, Richard Corben, Jean-Pierre Dionnet, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius.

Both the publishing house and the magazine started off at the same time in 1974. It was founded by Moebius, Claire Bretecher and Gotlib who left Dargaud as a protest against René Goscinny's leadership, which Moebius deemed to conventional. Their first published title was the Science fiction story Le Bandard Fou which later was printed in Métal Hurlant. In 1977, They gained world wide attention by simply translating the magazine in English and distributing it in North America and the countries of the Commonwealth under the name Heavy Metal. Eventually, this English language magazine got its own editorial board and original content.

The publishing house has spawned several other related genre houses and a video game company.
