Diana Villiers Negroponte

Diana Villiers Negroponte is the spouse of John Negroponte, the current United States Ambassador to Iraq.

She was born in 1947 as Diana Villiers, and is the daughter of Charles Villiers who would later become chairman of British Steel. As a neice of British Ambassador Peter Wilkinson, she visited him in Vietnam in 1968 where she met John Negroponte, her future husband, at a banquet given in her honor. However, the relationship between Diana Villiers and John Negroponte did not blossom until 8 years later in 1976. Diana Villiers Negroponte has a doctorate in history and is a professor at Fordham University. She also holds a law degree. Her resume includes a stint as an associate at Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of Diplomacy. She is currently on the board of Freedom House and is on the Leadership Council of Habitat for Humanity's New York City chapter.
